Previous Posts

So, for some reason, when I try to post from my phone, it doesn't work right, and it doesn't make real words. I"ll try and fix that. Anyway. in the last posts, I was trying to say that "I am suddenly greatful for vaccumes. without them we'd have to pick up all those little crumblies by hand and stuff. yuck. whoever invented these devices that really "suck" doesn't get all the credit they deserve." :D

Lucky Penny

I was walking down the sidewalk today when I saw a penny, sitting on the ground, and I thought to myself, "Find a penny pick it up..." you know the rhyme I'm sure. Well that got me thinking. Why lucky pennies? And why pennies? why not lucky dimes or nickles? or even better, a lucky quarter? why is it that we picked the smallest monetary value to represent luck? Is it the copper-y color that is the closest hue to gold? or is it that pennies are common and cheap, and therefore it is easier for us to get a little luck in our lives? It seems to me, that in this time of economic struggle, we need to re-embrace the penny. And simple (cheap) pleasures. And why is it that the penny must be heads up for it to be lucky? do we love our Abe that much? that we consider his likeness on a tiny piece of copper covered coin to be a lucky token? And what is it about throwing a penny into a pool of water that makes it acceptable to make a wish? I thought I would look around the web to see if I could figure out this little mystery of mine, and I stumbled upon this website about a girl that calls herself the penny preistess... the lucky penny god..needless to say, it's a little... odd for me. Amusing, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. So for now, I'll just pick up the occasional lucky penny, and go about my life.
